Convicted of murdering his second wife Amelia Kidd. He was born in 1799 in Larbert, Stirling. He married Mary McDougal on 12 Feb 1826 in Larbert. They had three children. Mary died in the mid 1840s. He remarried to Amelia Kidd on 7 Nov 1847 at Larbert. He murdered her on 17 April 1853 at their home in Carronshore, Larbert, Stirling. He was a blacksmith and worked at the Carron Iron Works for 28 years before being arrested for Amelia's murder.
