Recorder’s Court yesterday HIGHWAY. Neal O'Donnell and Robert Little were placed at the bar, and indicted for having robbed Mr John Player upon the highway. John MGhee and Patrick McNamara were indicted for having received the property taken upon that occasion, knowing the same to have been stolen. John Player sworn and examined ... ... After half an hour's deliberation, returned a verdict of guilty against Little, O'Donnell, and Maghee. McNamara (who was a most respectable looking man) was acquitted. to The Recorder,. in a most impressive address, recorded sentence of death against Little and O'Donnell. and sentenced MGbee to seven years' transportation. They all appeared considerably affected by their sentences. While the Recorder was charging the jury, O'Donnell and MGhee protested that M'Namara was perfectly innocent. Robert or John Little (he has records under both names) was 21 years old and his occupation was a "Miller's labourer/waiter", he was single and his native place was Cavan, he could read and write. 1844: TOL Scone. (Listed under Robert & John). 20/12/1848: CP 1835: Committed for trial for bushranging and robbery. Forwarded to Sydney Gaol - Invermein. 1837: Aged 25, assigned to H C Semphill, Invermein. 12/7/1842: Scone - Application to marry Mary Ann Sweetman, aged 22 per Isabella - Disallowed as he must become free or obtain a TOL. (No record of this marriage on the NSW BDM). Whilst Robert was assigned to Mr Semphill, Charles Griffen/Gritten, William Sullivan and Michael Collins were also assigned servants and it was Charles Griffen who lead them and other such as Robert to the bush and they became bushrangers.
