1832: On arrival in VDL, he was single, 21 and had two previous convictions - one for stealing clothes (4 months' jail) and one for stealing apples (6 weeks). His conduct report for jail in England described him as "a bad boy", while he was listed as "orderly" on the hulk. During the voyage to VDL his behaviour was described as "bad" (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-37$init=CON31-1-37p98).

1832, 3 January: He was convicted at the Epiphany Sessions at Gloucester for stealing stockings (see England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892). 1832, 21 January: He was admitted to the Justitia prison hulk at Woolwich and sent from there for transportation on 11 February (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849).
