Convict Notes

Susan is mentioned in the 1805-06 Muster: [A3827 page 92]. However, she is wrongly identified as Susan Roberts, William Pitt, Living with Michael Burn. Then the second entry [C1056 page 173] has her as Susan Roberts, Glatton, a concubine with 2 male children. Susan lived with Michael Byrne (Convict, Minerva, 1800) and the couple had twin sons (William and Michael, born in 1807. Susan is again identified in the 1811 Muster [4982 page 108] Susannah Roberts, Glatton, tried Apr 1801, Middlesex. She does not appear in the 1814 Muster or the 1828 Census. She seems to have been married to Michael Byrne in April 1815 at Parramatta. Michael also id=s not listed in the 1828 Census. Her two sons, are however listed in the Census; William aged 21 [B3657 page 76] with his wife Ann, and two children (Susannah and Michael). His twin Michael is listed in the same family group [B3661 page 76], clearly unmarried. Young William's wife, Ann Byrne was the daughter of the Exiled Irish Rebel Hugh Vesty Byrne (Exile, Tellicherry, 1806) and his wife Sarah Dwyer (Exile, Tellicherry, 1806).
