Stirling Circuit. Friday, Sept. 22. John Anderson, weaver, Hugh Anderson, weaver, Mary Duff, wife of John Anderson, and Sarah Robertsons, Wife of Hugh Anderson, charged with theft and housebreaking; … - on the 9th of August last, break into the porter's lodge of Craigforth-house, occupied by Robert Paterson and carried therefrom a great quantity of a wearing apparel. - The prisoners pleaded Not Guilty and, after the examination of a number of witnesses, the Jury returned a verdict, unanimously finding the prisoners Guilty. Lord Pitmilly then admonished the prisoners, and then concluded bypassing sentence of transportation on them all for seven years. Caledonian Mercury, 2 Oct 1826.
