ROBINSON, Jane (c1782-?) Tried - 30 March 1812 Warwick Assize Jane was a servant when she appeared before the Warwick Assize Court in 1812. Aged 30, she was found guilty of “larceny from the person” after “picking the pocket of Thomas Brown” and placed firstly on the ship Emu and Jane finally reached New South Wales in 1814 on the Broxbornebury as a prisoner with a 7 year term. BC: 1782 Sentenced: 30/03/1812 Warwick Assize to transportation for life Crime: Larceny “WARWICK ASSIZE…Hannah Fearn and Elizabeth Hyatt for stealing muslin &c, in the shop of Mr Cadbury of this town, condemned…Ann Rowley for felonies…Jane Robinson for picking the pocket of Thomas Brown…transported seven years …” (Source: Warwick (UK) newspaper article, undated, circa early April 1812) Previous Occupation: Servant ALSO ON SHIP EMU IN 1812 Age on Convict Indent (Brox.): 32 Certificate of Freedom 2592 (indent) 1814 Muster: Jane ROBINSON, con, Brox, off stores, to Mrs Bean, Sydney (7160) & (future) spouse - Thomas WOOD, Indian, convict, off stores, to Mr A Luttrell, Windsor (0907) 1816 - Thomas Wood, listed as a servant of Alfred Luttrell of Richmond for the previous 5 years, petitioned for mitigation of his sentence. Robinson, Windsor (A18082) Thomas WOOD, CP, Indian, life, landholder, Windsor (A23193) 1823-25 Muster: Jane ROBINSON, FBS, Brox, lives with Thomas Wood, Richmond (38428) & spouse - Thomas WOOD, CP, Indian 1810, life, landholder, Richmond (36367) & child - Mary Ann ROBINSON, aged 9, BC, child of Jane Robinson, Richmond (38430) 1828 Census: Thomas WOOD, aged 64, CP, Indian 1810, life, prot, labourer, North Richmond *(W2323) (30 acres, 9 cleared, 8 cultivated) (Thomas living alone, no record for Jane) NSW BDM: 1) No record found for Jane (marriage or death) or birth of daughter Mary Ann (from1823 Muster) 2) Thomas Wood (?) died on 06/01/1844 at Kurrajong, aged “75-80” & the funeral was held at Richmond C of E.
