Mary was a single woman from Preston who had stolen from Peter Dewhurst. She had already been jailed the previous year for stealing bed sheets. After arrival her last name is listed variously as Ruby/Rubey. In 1813 Mary was sent to Newcastle penal colony on the Estramina for one year. This was extended by a further year with her returning to Sydney in 1815. In 1816, Mary was listed as a servant to Thomas Judd. The following year, she was at Newcastle again. In 1818 she is noted as a housekeeper. In 1819 Mary was in the female factory and in 1820 she was a washerwoman. Mary is recorded as dying the following year in June 1821, aged 35.
