Richard Rodwell was 33 years old on arrival, his native place was Knighton, Leicester. Richard was 5’4 ¾” tall, could read and write a little, fresh complexion, brown hair and whiskers, grey eyes. Richard was married – wife Elizabeth and 2 children at Leicester. Mother: Mary Brother: John Sisters: Elizabeth, Mary-ann, Sarah, Ellen, Martha, Hannah. 28/9/1852: TOL 5/10/1852: Recommended for a CP John Coker and his wife Louisa (nee Duckett) and 6 children arrived per “Molton’ 30/10/1854. John Coker disappeared between 1854 -1859. Louisa then had a relationship with Richard Rodwell and had 2 sons, William born 5/11/1859 (he married Eliza Gore at St Marks on 17/7/1882). Richard born 20/2/1863 and died 1920 – he married Ann (Annie) Aylin (1866-1938) at Bathurst NSW in 1891. 1898-1901 Richard was a miner at Hill End, NSW. They had 3 sons – William George Rodwell born 1894 at Lucknow, NSW and died 28/9/1917, aged 23, in France, Killed in Action. James W. born 1905 at Picton, NSW Richard – no birth date found but he is listed on the NSW BDM as dying in 1948 at Parramatta – Parents were Richard and Annie. 3/11/1917 The Bathurst Times: Mrs. Rodwell, of North Sydney and late of Hill End, has been advised that her eldest son, Private William Rodwell, has fallen in France. Her younger son, Dick, is still in the firing line. He, too, had been wounded, but recovered and went back to the front. 17/8/1889 The Mercury, Hobart: RODWELL.-On Tuesday August 6, at Hobart, Richard Rodwell, after a long and painful illness, in the 70th year of his age. Richard died at the Hobart General Hospital of Hemiplegia (paralysis – usually from a stroke). Louisa died in 1871.
