John Rodgers was convicted at Wells, Somerset on 25/03/1845 for sheep stealing. Also convicted was his father Richard & brother Joseph. All transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Equestrian 2' arriving 15/10/1845. Aged 30yrs; 5'3 1/2"; Protestant; can read & write; fresh complexion; brown hair; blue eyes; miner; married, 2 children. Native place - nr Wells. Mother: Maria Father: Richard Brothers: Joseph, Thomas, Henry & Charles Sisters: Sophia & Catherine Station Gang: Coal Mines, 15mths. Emerged 21/01/1847. Ticket of Leave 14/05/1850 Conditional Pardon 21/06/1853 Free Certificate 03/08/1855 (Brother Joseph Free Certificate 1853; Father Richard accidently killed, Hobart, 1847.)
