Thomas LUCAS (alias ROGERS) was convicted at Worcester on 2 Jan 1843 for stealing. Previous convictions, imprisoned before and gaol report of a bad character. 10yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Lord Petre' arriving 15 Oct 1843. Aged 21yrs; 5'3"; ploughman and farmer's labourer; single. Stated his proper name is "Lucas". Native place: Timsbury, Worcester. Father: Thomas Mother: Elizabeth Brother: Samuel Sister: Sarah Period of Probation in Colony - 20mths at Cascades, south Hobart. Several notes of misconduct and punishments. Ticket of Leave granted 9 April 1850. Conditional Pardon granted 28 Dec 1852. Application for permission to marry: 25 June 1850 to Eliza Scholefield (transported per 'Asia'). Approved. Marriage: 15 July 1850 at St. Joseph's Church, Launceston to Eliza Scofield. Thomas a bachelor; on a Ticket of Leave; aged 26yrs. Eliza, a spinster, aged 22 yrs, Passholder. Departure from VDL to Victoria: 24 Aug 1853 per 'Clarence' together with wife Eliza Schofield
