The indentures state that Martin Rooney was 26 years old. He could neither read or write: Religion Catholic: status single and a native of Galway. He was a labourer. He was convicted of street robbery on 31 July 1827 at County Clare and sentenced to 7 years. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 5 inches; complexion ruddy, freckled and fair; hair brown to bald and eyes blue. Transport number 8. He was assigned to William Cox, Richmond.
