Family connections for Mary (Rooney) are: ROONEY Mary (Rooney) was born about 1810 in probably Wicklow county Ireland & became a house servant. She was tried for stealing money at Dublin city, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict, perhaps with a child, on 25 12 1837 after a voyage of 4.5months on SIR CHARLES FORBES. She married Richard (Aikins TOL) about 1838. [Some details taken from this Website] Thomas (Atkins/Aikins) was born about 1794 & became a general labourer. He was tried at Tipperary Ireland, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 6 5 1814 after a voyage of 5months on THREE BEES; he was sent to Liverpool for distribution. On 9 2 1818 he was sent, as (Aickins), to Newcastle on ELIZABETH HENRIETTA. In November 1822 he absconded from Dr (Harris)s clearing party. In 1824 he was assigned to (Thomas)s road gang at Parramatta from which he absconded again in October 1824. From 1824-1825 (12months) he was at Mt Druitt. He had been issued his Ticket of Leave by 1838. He was issued his Conditional Pardon on 26 1 1844. He had his Ticket of Leave when given permission to marry about 1839.
