We are sorry to observe that there are no less than 83 prisoners in the Castle, for trial, many of them charged with capital offences, viz. …Alex. Rostern, 56, Daniel Reeves, 57, and George Dixon, 23, for stealing in a warehouse, at Burnley.. .. ... Lancaster Gazette, 19 Aug 1820.

Lancaster Gazette Lancashire, England 2 Sep 1820: LANCASTER ASSIZES, Alex. Rostern pleaded Guilty of stealing cotton in a warehouse : — l4 years' transportation. Alexander Rostern was listed as 48 years old on arrival. Native Place: Rushten. ?? Occupation: Waggoner. Alexander was 5'6½" tall, dark sallow complexion,black to grey hair, grey eyes. 17/7/1827: TOL, Sydney Bench. 14/9/1827: COF 17/3/1828: (Date of burial). Alexander Rostern was died, aged 67, and was buried at St. Phillips, Sydney.
