We have further to announce the arrival on Sunday morning, the 29th instant, of the ship Almorah, with 180 male prisoners, all in excellent health, consequent upon their good treatment upon the passage; she lost not a man. — This vessel sailed from the Downs the 28th of April, arrived at Rio de Janeiro the 15th of June, and sailed on the 23rd; Sydney Gazette, 30 Aug 1817. Almorah 2. Yesterday arrived from Ireland,- the ship Almorah; Captain Winter. She sailed from the Cove of Cork the 22d of August last, and brings 160 male prisoners, all in good health. Surgeon Superintendent, Dr. Alexander, R. N. The guard consists of a party of 30 men belonging to the 1st Regiment of Foot (Royals), under orders of Ensign Bruce. Sydney Gazette, 23 Dec 1820. Almorah 3. On Friday last, arrrived from Ireland, with 108 female prisoners, the ship Almorah, Captain Boyd. She sailed from Cork the 6th of April; reached no where: and, independent of the female prisoners, brings 15 free women, and 50 children. One prisoner, and one child, died on the passage. Offence: Theft > theft from a specified place Verdict: Guilty; Guilty; Guilty Punishment: Transportation ELIZABETH KING, ELIZABETH MURRELL, and JOSEPH RUDD, were indicted for stealing, on the 14th of December, two pillows, value 6s.; two blankets, value 9s.; one counterpane, value 15s.; one rug, value 4s.; two sheets, value 8s.; one tea-board, value 3s.; one looking-glass, value 3s.; two pillow-cases, value 2s.; one iron spoon, value 2d.; one knife and fork, value 6d.; and five images, value 6d., the property of Robert Cooper ; the same being in a certain lodging-room in his dwelling-house, let by contract by him to the prisoners, to be used with the lodging-room, against the statute. KING - GUILTY. Aged 28. MURRELL - GUILTY. Aged 27. RUDD - GUILTY. Aged 19. Transported for Seven Years. Joseph Rudd was born in Norwich and was listed as 20 years old o arrival in VDL. He arrived in Sydney 29/7/1817 per 'Almorah' and then to VDL per 'Pilot' on 28/9/1817. Joseph was 5'8 1/2" tall, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown hair. 30/10/1829 Colonial Times, Hobart: SUPREME COURT Joseph Rudd was sentenced to 8 months imprisonment **(for stealing a flute, the property of the Crown)**. 15/1/1835: The True Colonist Van Diemen's Land Political Despatch, Hobart: Notice. ALL Persons are hereby cautioned not to employ or harbour JOSEPH RUDD, a Bricklayer, he having contracted to do certain work for me, and has absconded before its completion.- Any person employing or harbouring the above named Joseph Rudd, before he fulfills his contract with me, will be prosecuted with the utmost rigour of the law.
