At the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace held for this city and county, at the Guildhall, on Monday last, Mary Rugg was convicted of stealing. a piece of holland, the property of Mess. Willcocks and Sons, and was sentenced to be transported to be transported to parts beyond the seas for 7 years ; Exeter Flying Post, 8 Oct 1801.

Mary had a family with Thomas West, a convict per Earl Cornwallis, 1800, sentenced at Sussex, who became a successful miller, and built the first water mill in NSW. There is a lot of well documented information about Thomas West. https://www.familysearch.org/photos/artifacts/189322821?p=53690660&returnLabel=Naomi%20West%20(L2FY-YW4)&returnUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.familysearch.org%2Ftree%2Fperson%2Fmemories%2FL2FY-YW4 Thomas West (1773-1858) married Martha Goodwin at New Romney, Kent, on 8 July 1793. One of his sons, with Martha, Thomas Spencer West, in 1821, settled in NSW, and died at Kingsgrove 1856. Had a family in NSW with Mary Rugg, and two children, Obed West, b 1807, and Naomi West, b 1805.

THE Persons whose Names are inserted underneath, and who arrived in this Colony in the several recorded Ships under which their names respectively appear, have obtained Certificates from His Excellency the Governor, of their being restored to all the Rights of Free Subjects in consequence of their Terms of Transportation being expired; they are therefore henceforth to be respected accordingly.
