Per "Mangles", 1822 1822 Nov On list of convicts landed from the "Mangles" and forwarded to Parramatta for distribution (Reel 6009; 4/3506 p.430) 1824 Oct 21 On list of prisoners assigned (Fiche 3291; 4/4570D p.108) 1825 Jul 6 Sentenced to death. On return of prisoners tried before the Supreme Court of New South Wales (Fiche 3298; X727 p.10) 1825 Aug 16 Convicted for highway robbery; sentence of death commuted to transportation to Norfolk Island for life. On return of prisoners tried and sentenced by the Supreme Court (Fiche 3298; X730 p.11) -------------------------------------------------- February 7. Timothy Wall, William Ryan, and John Wallis, prisoners of the crown, charged with an assault on the King's highway, on the Parramatta-road, at the hour of nine at night, on and with an intent to rob Charles Smith, but which they were prevented from doing by the resistance he made in knocking down two of the ruffians, and disabling the third by a blow on his arm. Smith had notes and monies in his possession at the time, to a considerable amount, which he fortunately preserved. Remanded for further examination. Sydney Gazette, 10 Feb 1825. Supreme Criminal Court. WEDNESDAY, JULY 6.— John Wallis, William Ryan, and Timothy Sheedy were indicted for an assault and highway robbery on Charles Smith. Guilty. Sydney Gazette, 7 July 1825. TUESDAY, AUGUST 16.—This day the following prisoners received sentence:—John Wallis, William Ryan, and Timothy Sheedy, for highway robbery on Charles Smith—Death.
