ELIZABETH RYDER. Violent Theft; highway robbery. 12th July 1827. Born 1801 Place of birth London (London, whitecross street, London). Gender female. Height 4' 9". Religion Protestant (unspecified). Hair brown. Eyes blue, defective, brown (brown, <[x:blind]>). Distinguishing marks blind of right- eye 1393. ELIZABETH RYDER was indicted for feloniously assaulting Charles Marsh Pigram , in the King's highway, on the 10th of June , at St. Luke , putting him in fear, and taking from his person, and against his will, 1 silver watch, value 2l.; 1 gold key, value 3s., and 1 ribbon, value 3d., his property ............. Prisoner's Defence. I am innocent. I was told I was not to be prosecuted. GUILTY - DEATH . Aged 26. Sentence respited; 21st August 1827

Yesterday the Recorder, London, made his Report in Council, the following convicts under sentence death in Newgate: namely, William Briffett, aged 47, for horse-stealing, James Taylor, 16, Samuel Rogers, 14, James Brecken, 18, William Harris, 16, Frederick Beale 18, Edward Griffiths, 19, and James Hawes, 23, for stealing property the value 40s. and upwards in a dwelling house —John Byford Smith, John Wright, and Joseph Wells, 18, for burglary, John Williams, 20, Thomas Wilson, 17, John Haggerty, 16, Elizabeth Ryder, 26, and Thos. Norton, 25, for highway robbery - Peter Johnson Hamilton, 47, for uttering counterfeit coin, he having been before convicted of like offence. His Majesty was graciously pleased command that all the said convicts should respited during his royal pleasure, excepting Thomas Norton, upon whom law is left to take its course, and he is ordered to be executed on Monday next, the 27th instant.
