CITY ASSIZES. Judge Moore entered the City Court at II o clock on Monday, when the following cases were disposed of— Catherine Salmon for stealing counterpane from John Garvey of Roche's street. which was identified by Thomasina O’Connell, and Michael Carroll, Policeman. swore the prisoner acknowledged to him having gone into the house and stolen and stolen the properly to pay off green-wax fine. Prisoner, a girl of dubious character, complained to the Court that the Policeman had been asking her several questions while in custody, which were now injurious to her case. Judge Moore—lt if not the duty of Policeman ask prisoner any questions, and it exceedingly improper for one to do but Magistrate, Prisoner, in reply to the Court if she had any thing to say in her defence—explained that she was only by house with a little drop of spirit in her head, when a young man, a lodger invited her up stairs, to speak her, and gave her quilt as he was going away; that was all— Verdict - Guilty.
