Additional comment: If Samuel Eccles was the son of George Clark & Mary Whittingham Eccles, then he would not have emigrated to America in 1849 when the rest of them went over. George & son Thomas arrived in Mar 1849 and wife Elizabeth and 4 children (no Samuels)arrived in November 1849.
Trying to determine if Samuel is a member of the George Eccles/Mary Whittingham family located in Salford, Manchester, Lancashire in 1841. Children are Sarah, Thomas, Charles, Elizabeth and George. Thanks for any help!
Prison & convict records show that he was sentenced to life. Perhaps subsequent to the trial or once in Van Diemans land.
It is rather doubtful that the birth information submitted is correct as that Samuel is on many records as having emmigrated in 1849 to America with his family of origin.
Ralph & Samuel were not brothers, but both were born to men named George & mothers named Mary in Lancashire where there were numerous Eccles. Many people have wrongly combined these 2 men & their marriages & children together. Ralph named all the members of his family on one of his onvict records, as did Samuel. Their names were not the same & theydid not name each other.
