Convict Notes
Samuel received his ticket of leave on the 26 of May 1825. He was in the Illawarra district when he received his ticket of freedom of 17 December 1828. He met his wife Honora there as she was sent to that district to a Mr Hindmarsh. They were married at Scots Church Sydney.
Samuel and Honoro had a daughter Susan who married Phillip Calf Hill in 1865, a prominent family of the day. she died in 1896 at Waverley, NSW
Death was 29-Sep-1895, not 1956. From TROVE... The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW) - Wednesday 1 October 1856 - Death & Funeral Notices "At the residence of Mr John Walton, Bay-street, Glebe, on the 29th instant, Mr Samuel Walton, aged 54 years, leaving a wife and nine children. The funeral will take place on Thursday, October 2nd, at 3 o'clock." Samuel WALTON, may have been a brother of John WALTON (same address).
Samuel was part of a gang of three, along with Joseph Goddard and Thomas Hudson. On 13th May 1820, Samuel and Joseph stole an ass from Thomas Robarts in Kingswalden. The next day, they stole two asses from Charles Complin in Paulswalden, two more from John Barron in Ippolits, and another two from Eleanor Robarts in Kingswalden. Samuel was 5'3" tall, brown hair, hazel eyes. 1823: Assigned to John Reynolds, Appin. 1825: TOL Camden 1826: TOL Illawarra 17/12/1828: COF 10/12/1832: Married Honora Connor (Palambam 1831) They had 7-9 children. 1856: Died at Bay Street, Glebe and was buried at the Camperdown Cemetery, Sydney, leaving a wife and 9 children.
