UK Prison Register has him at 69 years old on 19th July 1838. William Sandlant and his wife Mary had five children, Catherine born 1795, Mary Ann born 1796, James born 1799, William born 1800 and Thomas born 1808.

William was described as a 'well disposed old man'. He was 5'5 1/2" tall, blue eyes, black to grey hair, sallow complexion. William was married - wife Mary and 2 children at his native place of Leicestershire. 12/4/1844: 3rd Class. William died at the Impression Bay Hospital.

Thought to be one of the oldest convicts ever to be transported. Died Impression Bay, Tasmania.
