Return of persons to gaol, convicted during the week ending 23 Sept 1871. Samuel Satchell, per Candahar, F.S., for larceny, sentence-6 months, native of England, a gardener, aged 66 yrs, 5 feet 6 inches high, resides in Hobart Town. Tasmania Police Gazette, 29th Sept 1871, p156. Prisoner discharged from H M Gaol, Week ending 23 & 27 Mar 1872. From Hobart Town, Samuel Satchell, per Candahar, tried at Hobart on 25 Sept 1871 for larceny, served 6 months, native of Warwickshire, 66 yrs, 5 feet 3 1/2 inches high, brown hair, left hand injured. Tasmania Police Gazette, 29th Mar 1872, p55.

I only know that he was born in St Andrew, Rugby, Warwick, England and his parents were James Satchell (1770 - 1853) and Sarah Gillingham (1768 - 1855) Samuel was the 7th of 10 children and he married Sarah Bradshaw at Hillmarton, Warwickshire on Jan. 31, 1825. He left her with 6 children. Samuel died June 21, 1884 at Cornelean Bay, Van Diemans Land, Tasmania.
