THREE CHILDREN OF SAMUEL SANDELL & SARAH WHALEY: 1. Samuel, December 1800, 14 Dec 1800. registered 28 December 1800 at St Johns Parramatta, Samuel Marsden. SAMUEL SANDELL DIED at Parramatta in 1829; he would have been aged 29 years. See the Sydney Gazette notice below. 2.Sarah, 27 August 1802, registered 19 Sept 1802 at St Johns Parramatta, Samuel Marsden 3. Mary, 3 august 1804, registered 26 August 1804 at St Johns Parramatta, Samuel Marsden. There are other women named Sarah and Mary Sandell/Sandle etc in the colony, however the following appear to be this family. There is no record of a marriage or death of Mary Sandell. (The 1820 marriage of Mary 'Sandell" to Isaac Elliott is Mary 'Sandle" per Glatton - the 1828 census clearly shows this is these two people). The daughter Sarah appears to have married Matthew McElroy, although no NSWBDM marriage record found. 1828 CENSUS - Matthew McElroy, Aged 33, publican in York Street, arrived as 7 yr convict per "Chapman" in 1817. Plus his wife, Sarah McElroy "aged 23" Born in colony, and their daughter Mary aged 7 BC. Sarah Sandell /McElroy would actually be aged 26 years at the Census. This would explain the following newspaper advertisement, for her brother Samuel: Syd Gazette 31 March 1829, p.3 An advertisement "In the Estate and Effects of SAMUEL SANDELL, late of Parramatta, in the Colony of New South Wales Carpenter, deceased, Intestate;" proposing that Administration be granted to "Matthew McElroy, and Sarah his Wife, of Sydney, the said Sarah being the next of Kin, and sole Heiress of the said Samuel Sandell, as represented to us". Wife Sarah (formerly Whaleyl nee Wheatley) remarried in 1818: 31 December 1818 at St Johns Parramatta "Sarah Sandall" to Thomas Dodman aged 42 per 'Indefatigable'; widower. In the 1819 convict muster, Sarah 'Sandle' per Speedy, 1 female child, to 'Dodman'.

In the colony, Samuel commenced a liaison with Sarah Whaley (nèe Wheatley) (Convict, Speedy, 1799). This 'marriage' must have been about late 1800. The couple had two daughters, Sarah Sandall, 1802 and Mary Sandall, 1804. Samuel died soon thereafter.
