CITY SESSIONS—THIS DAY—A young girl, named Ellen Saunders, was sentenced to transportation for seven years for having, a few nights since, robbed the house countrywoman, named Murley, in the vicinity of this City, of two cloaks and other articles of wearing apparel.— It appeared by the evidence of the prosecutrix, that the prisoner, who represented herself to belong to the town Charleville, rapped at her door on the night in question, and begged a lodging for God’s sake—that  the request was granted ; but that in the middle of the night she repaid the hospitality of her hostess robbing her of the property already named. The Jury having convicted the accused, the animadverted upon the turpitude of the offence, lauded the generous spirit of kindliness and hospitality that characterized the poorer order of the peasantry Ireland, concluded by ordering the prisoner to be transported to Botany Bay.  Southern Reporter, 2 Sep 1830.
