The Patriot Convict Indentures state that Joseph Scott was 46 years old. He could read and write; religion Protestant; status single and a native of Brigham, County Cumberland. His trade was linen weaver and soldier in 41 Regiment. He was convicted of desertion at Bellary, South India on 1 March 1837 and convicted to 7 years transportation. He had prior convictions for which he served 6 weeks and 300 lashes. Physical attributes - Height 5 feet 6 inches; complexion dark sallow; hair brown mixed with grey and eyes hazel. Transport number: 2. Prisoner number 38-199. Received Certificate of Freedom in 1847 (number 47/490). Hand written comment a bit faded.
