Jean SCRYMGEOUR was convicted at Edinburgh on 12 March 1830 for stealing a watch from the person. Previous conviction for stealing money, vagrancy and drunkeness. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Mellish' arriving 23 Sept 1830. Aged 22 yrs; housemaid, suitable to wash and iron; unmarried; can read, Native place of birth: Fife, Scotland. VDL: Jean was admitted to the Female Factory, Hobart but died there in the October 1830.
