Charles Selby was convicted at Chester 2 Aug 1834 for housebreaking. Previous for leaving his Master. 7yr transportation sentence - to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Layton' 1835. Ship Surgeon's Report: Generally good but flogged on board for obscene language. Native Place: Salford Trade: labourer and tailor Aged 21yrs Assignments in Colony. 1835: To be placed on 6mths Probation, on Roads due to improper conduct on voyage. 26 Jan 1836: Road Party - neglect of duty - 3 days solitary. 6 Jan 1840: Ticket of Leave 18 Nov 1841: Conditional Pardon no. 3558 1842: Free Certificate no. 102 A Charles Selby married Lydia French (Rajah)1842. He was listed as "free". Charles Selby died, Launceston 1896.
