Norfolk assizes. Robert Self, or Robert Howlett, aged 25, was capitally convicted convicted of stealing on the 18th of February last, a bay mare, the property Wm. Pvmer. of West Harling. one of the executors of Win. Pymer, deceased There was a similar charge against the prisoner, for stealing a mare from Richard Peck, of Garboldisham, upon which, as well as upon another for stealing a saddle and bridle, he was not tried. ... At these Assizes (which did not finish till the afternoon Friday) thirteen prisoners were capitally convicted and received sentence of death, viz … All the above were reprieved except Philip Newton, for sheep-stealing, and Robt. Self, for horsestealing, who were left for execution; but since their return the Castle, they have been respited. Norfolk Chronicle, 1 Apr 1820.
