Mr. Patrick Shannon, Yass River.
On Sunday night, November 1, after a lingering illness that extended over some years, Mr. Patrick Shannon died at his residence on the Yass River, at the age of 86 years. The deceased gentleman came from Ireland about 65 years ago, and during the digging days he made a considerable amount of money on Bendigo and Turon fields. Subsequently, Mr. Shannon was one of the best known carriers on the roads between Sydney and the fields. Forty years or more ago he settled on the present farm at Yass River, and actively worked it until about eight years ago, when he was compelled to rest, and the farm was carried on by his two sons. A grown up family of five sons and three daughters survive him. Mrs. Ellen Sexton, Mrs. T. Rooney, Miss Shannon and Messrs. Peter and John Shannon reside in the district. The funeral was largely attended. R.I.P.
