17/7/1830 The Merlin, Monmouth: Uriah Sharland and John Morgan, charged with stealing a quantity of rope; Hugh Price, charged as an accessory with the above. 12/11/1835 The Sydney Herald: RUNAWAY CONVICT. My Assigned Servant URIAH SHARLAND, having absconded from me, at Goulburn Plains, (with the certificate of Samuel Millington in his possession,) for the purpose of employing himself as a Bricklayer’s labourer, fencer, or farm servant, and supposed to have gone to Bathurst. The said Uriah Sharland is about twenty-two years of age, ruddy complexion, brown hair, about five feet six inches in height, effeminate in appearance, one thigh bent and shorter than the other from a fracture, came by ship Camden, and is a native of Wales. H. Howet. Goulburn Plains, November 5, 1835. 16/6/1837 The Hobart Courier: Notice. To Constables and Others. Police office, June 13, 1837. WHEREAS information has been received that thirteen prisoners of the Crown were sent by Mr. Henry Howey, from Goulbourne plains in New South Wales, in February 1837, under the charge of Mr. Geo. Hamilton, and that on their arrival at the Murray river en route to Port Philip, the following absconded : - Uriah Sharland per Camden, fair ruddy complexion, one thigh has been broken and is bent outwards, height about five feet six or seven inches, a remarkable soft voice, age about twenty six, an agricultural labourer, native of Wales. No records of him on ‘Linctas’., or on Trove after 1837.
