High Court of Justiciary.  Janet Shaw, Mary Crawford, and John Hamilton, were found guilty of assault and robbery,  as also of theft. habit and repute, and previous conviction, having on the 17th August last, in a house in Leith Wynd, Edinburgh, attacked and assaulted Basil Mennie, groom, and robbed him of the sum of five shillings. The prisoners were each sentenced to ten years' transportation. Edinburgh News, 6 Jan 1849.
