Crown Court 13 prisoners were tried, nine of whom were capitally convicted, and received sentence of death, viz.— Joseph Shaw, aged 21, for feloniously breaking into house of Charlotte Marriott, Horsham, and stealing therein gold locket and gilt chain, with other trinkets, and four silver spoons … The unhappy convicts were all reprieved before Judges left town. Sussex Advertiser, 28 March 1814.
