Originally sentenced to death at Warwick Assizes in 1824 at the age of 17. She was the daughter of Oliver Shaw and his wife Lydia, nee Batcher Her father was a licensed victualler and she was my 3xGt Grandaunt




On 14th May 1828, Lydia married Samuel Davis. Samuel was the son of the Welsh marine, Evan Davis and his wife Grace. The Davis family came free on Dromedary in 1810. In the November 1828 Census, Lydia is living with her husband Samuel and his mother Grace (Evan deceased). Lydia, Davies, 22, GS, Grenada, 1824, wife of Samuel [D0304 - page 116] Lydia and Samuel had a family of 10 over the next 20 years. He died in 1855 and she died in 1871.
