The following may be the report of his death. On Monday last an inquest was held at Bathurst on the body of an old man named Denis Shea, who had resided at the Lime Kilns, on the Turon Road. It appeared, from the evidence of the old man's son, that the deceased had left home on Tuesday of the last week with a horse and dray, and that, though he was expected home on that night, or the day following, no alarm was felt until Saturday, when the son was informed that his father had been seen returning home on Thursday. Witness then proceeded in search of him, and, melancholy to relate, found him with the cart upturned, and he underneath, dead. His death appeared to have been instantaneous. The horse was also killed ; the marks on the ground indicated that the animal had struggled hard. The jury returned a verdict accordingly. Freeman’s Journal, 10 Apr 1858.
