Proposal that legal assistance be given to F (Francis) Maxfield, charged with Murder. Document date: 05 Feb 1842. Colonial Times. Tue 15 Mar 1842. Page 2. SUPREME COURT Wat—CRIMINAL SIDE. witness asked tho prisoner where Sheffield was; ho told witness he had left him in the bush and he believed him to be dead ; asked him why ho believed he was dead, the prisoner answered that he had struck him and knew him to be dead, and ho would tell witness all about it ; Williams asked him if he had struck him with an axe-he said, no, with a stick ;
