Convict Notes

David Sherburn was NOT TRANSPORTED on "BARWELL". He was transported on Hillsborough which left England a year later. It was sad that he did not go on Barwell, because he was one of the 96 convicts who died on Hillsborough, most from typhus fever. His death was recorded by the Hillsborough's diarist, convict William Noah, as having occurred while the ship was held over at Cape Town for a lengthy period to deal with the vast numbers of sick and dying. He died on 7th April 1799. SEE HIS ENTRY as "SHERBORN" UNDER HILLSBOROUGH SHIP AND PLEASE MAKE ANY ADDITIONS THERE.
