Kentish Gazette Kent, England 23 Oct 1838 EAST KENT QUARTER SESSIONS Jesse Sherlock, and Thomas Sherlock, for breaking into a dwelling house at Charing, and stealing therefrom a watch, a clock, and other articles, the property of William Harris.___ Death recorded.___They were also charged with stealing a brush, a coat, and other articles, the property of H. Filmer ; eight bushels of wheat and two sacks, the property of William Clinch, at Otterden ; and a sheep, the property of Henry and Joseph Forster, at Charing. Jesse Sherlock was also charged with stealing about three bushels of flour, and a bag, the property of Job Spicer, at Lenham ; and about four bushels of peas, and four bushels of barley, the property of T.P. Wilks, at Charing. Thomas Sherlock was also charged with stealing about eight bushels of wheat, the property of Thomas Elvy, at Newnham. Brother, Thomas Sherlock was also onboard. Jesse Sherlock was listed as 22 years old on arrival. Native Place: Kent. Jesse was illiterate, single, 5'6" tall, dark sallow and freckled complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, eyebrows partially meeting, scar outside right eye, scar on right hand ; brother to 92 (which was Thomas, onboard).
