My grandmother was called Shearwood, but Sherwood seems to be the original spelling. Her father was Henry, whose father was Thomas, whose father was John the sheep stealing convict. Henry was crushed by an accident with his wagon and took several days to die. He carted wool.

Thankyou, this man is my ancestor. His descendant Reta Shearwood married my grandfather Norman C Johnson and they became renowned Merino sheep breeders in Central West NSW...so the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!
