Sarah (or Sally) SHIELS was convicted at Edinburgh on 8 Jan 1830 for tending or "felling" case coins. Previous offence for same. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Mellish' arriving 23 Sept 1830. Upon arrival, recorded as "married" but then in another section as "single". Several notes of misconduct and punishments including being sent to the Female Factory at George Town, VDL.
