c1830: Year of birth calculated, stated aged 17, in 1849 Quarterly list in prisons and on hulks; TOL records also show him as born c1830 at Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. 27-Sep-1847: Thomas Shimmons, tile worker, living at Kilmarnock in Ayrshire, found guilty by his own confession sentenced to 7 years transportation.
