Convict Notes
Thomas SHONE was convicted at Salop, Shropshire, England. 14 yr transportation sentence. Sent to New South Wales, Australia per the ship 'Guildford' 1812. Transferred to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the brig "Kangaroo" 1824. VDL Colonial Secretary's report: 21 July 1824 - "Thomas SHONE, holding a Conditional Pardon, about whom you enquire in your letter of 17th ult, was tried at Salop Assizes on 24th March 1810 and received sentence of 14 years". There were other convicts named "Shone" also living in VDL.
