Thomas had a son Henry Shurety - I am a descendant of Both. He was originally sentenced to death for his crime. But must have been changed to transportation.

The Hobart Town Gazette Prisoners Absconded, Convict’s Office, 22 Feb 1827 450. Tho. Shurely, Caledonia (2), five feet five and a-half, brown hair, hazel eyes, aged 31, labourer, tried at Bucks, march, 1822, life, native place, Hampstead, absconded from the Public Works, Launceston, Feb 19th 1827.
