1832: On arrival in VDL, he was listed as 21 years old and single, with no previous convictions. 1840, 11 September: He was granted a Ticket of Leave. 1846, 10 March: His Conditional Pardon No.637 was approved (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-39$init=CON31-1-39p199). 1847, 24 June: John Sidepot, CP per KS Forbes, paid 5 shillings and sailed from Launceston on the Minerva to Portland Bay, Victoria (about 360 miles west of Melbourne) (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/POL459-1-2).

1831, 8 August: John SIDEPOT was tried at Lancaster Summer Assizes where he was found guilty of burglary, and sentenced to death. This was commuted to transportation for life (see England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892; England, Lancashire 1831). 1831, 8 September: He was received aboard the prison hulk Justitia, moored at Woolwich; he was sent from there on 10 February 1832 for transportation (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849; Justitia Register 1803-1836).
