1833: On arrival in VDL, he was listed as single, 27 and a bread and biscuit baker from Edinburgh. He said he had been transported for robbing his master of 6 packs of flour. 1839: He received his Free Certificate No.744 (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-40$init=CON31-1-40p43).

--00-- 1832, 18 December: David Simpson, listed as 26 and convicted for theft, was received aboard the Cumberland hulk at Chatham, along with Robert Phillips [sic], 18. Both were sent from the hulk for transportation on 5 July 1833 (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849).
