John Slack was transported on the Kitty, departing 31st Dec 1791 and arriving 18th Nov 1792 with 32 passengers.
The 'Kitty' merchant built ship at Sunderland in 1787. In 1790 she carried slaves from the Gold Coast to Jamaica. Then in 1792 she transported convicts and goods from England to New South Wales, Australia. Voyage to Australia: After leaving England in March 1792 she sprung a leak and had to return to Spithead for repairs, departing again in April. 8 of the 10 male prisoners escaped. Only 30 female convicts, 3 died during the voyage. Carried supplies of stores and provisions for the Colony.

New South Wales, Australia, Convict Indents Date of Conviction; 7 Dec 1791 THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE OLD BAILEY Description; Aged 19. 5 feet 4 inches fair Complex. Light Brown hair Born in London. 10. JOHN SLACK was indicted for feloniously stealing, on the 5th day of November , fifty-six rabbit skins, value 25 s. the goods of Messrs. William Borrodaile , Richardson Borrodaile , and John Atkinson ............. Prisoner. Please you, my lord; coming from London-wall, a man gave me these skins to sell, and said, if I sold them, he would give me a shilling; I do not know where to find him. GUILTY . (Aged 19.) Transported for seven years . Tried by the London Jury before Mr. COMMON SERJEANT. Additional information; Delivered on Board the Kitty at Deptford
