Built 1834 at Calcutta. Wood ship of 684 Tons. The 1847/48 voyage sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) BUT also went on to Port Phillip Bay, Victoria where 300 exiles disembarked. (The newspaper source says they were from Millbank, Pentonville & Parkhurst prisons.)

Transcript states age 17 at the trial of Thomas and his brothers (William and John SLATER) in 1846. Disembarked, with brother William, from the Marion at Port Phillip, 25 Jan 1848, as a participant in the exile scheme instituted by Lord Stanley, British Colonial Secretary.
