Family connections for Charles (Sleaford) are: SLEAFORD/SLEFORD Charles (Sleaford/Sleford) was tried at Surrey Assizes, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 16 12 1810 after a voyage of 5.5months on INDIAN. He married Rebecca (Reynolds) on 28 6 1813 at St Matthews CofE Windsor. He was recorded in 1814 assigned to Wm (Cox) Esq, with his wife at Hawkesbury in 1816 & assigned to Wm (Cox) Esq in 1821. [Some details taken from this Website] Rebecca (Reynolds) was born about 1786. She was tried for stealing a straw bonnet from a child, on 12 7 1811, of Thomas (Day) at Old Bailey on 18 9 1811, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived at Port Jackson NSW as a convict after 19 10 1812 after a voyage of 6months on MINSTREL travelling with INDEFATIGIBLE. She was recorded with her husband at Hawkesbury in 1816. She died on 30 12 1816 age32 & was buried at Old Sydney Burial Ground St Phillips CofE Sydney. [Some details taken from this Website] [Noted a Margaret (Sleaford) arrived in Australia in 1810s. She had a relationship with Joseph (Hansell his second (2of3) relationship) & produced perhaps 2children:>>>] [Joseph (Hansell) was born in 1790. He was tried for breaking & entering, on 18 10 1810?, & stealing gowns etc (laundry) w/others of Robert & Agnes (Sheddon) & Mary (Kemp) at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to death commuted to Life, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 29 9 1811 after a voyage of 5months on ADMIRAL GAMBIER. He married firstly Eliza (Hall/Allen age16) on 28 12 1812 at St Matthews CofE Windsor. He is recorded in 1822 as caring for 4children. He married (a 3rd relationship) Sarah (Maloney her second marriage) in 1824-not shown in Smees records but another Sarah (Maloney WOODMAN 1823) did marry a James (Ansell/Hansell) in 1824. . In 1825 he is recorded as caring for 2children including a Joseph age6. He had been a carpenter when he died on 17 8 1828 age38 at Sydney Benevolent Asylum emancipist father of 6children & was buried at St James CofE Sydney.
