1831, 23 March: Convicted at Leicester for stealing a great coat. This was his second offence - he had served 12 months for stealing meat and 3 months for vagrancy. 1832: On arrival in VDL, he was 32, married to Elizabeth, and the father of 4 children. His native place was Leicester. 1839, 1 January: Granted a Ticket of Leave. 1842, 4 January: Received a Conditional Pardon. 1845: Granted a Free Certificate (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-39$init=CON31-1-39p203).
