VOYAGE: From ADM 101/59/4 - Medical journal of the Pestonjee Bomanjee, HM convict ship, for 1 April to 6 August 1852 by Daniel Ritchie, Surgeon (https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C10536031): Folio 1: George Smith, aged 38 [sic], butcher; disease or hurt, pleuritis. George Smith (denoted 1st of this sailing of ship) was convicted at Aylesbury on 03/07/1849 for stealing 3 sheep. 10 yr sentence. Gaol Report: Good. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Pestonjee Bomanjee' arriving 31/07/1852. Church of England, can read & write; butcher/farm labourer/shepherd; aged 27yrs; 5'7 1/4"; black hair; dark eyes; widower. Native Place: Bucks. 2yrs Probation, less 6mths upon arrival. 1852: Prison Barracks, Hobart. 04/08/53: Abscond. 6mths hard labour. 09/08/53: hospital,Hobart. Died 10/08/1853 at hospital, Hobart, Tasmania.
