Glasgow Chronicle newspaper dated Wed 19th Sept 1849 Glasgow Autumn Circuit Court Wed 12th Sept 1849 James Smith shoemaker was next accused of the theft by housebreaking, of a time-piece and some articles of wearing apparel, on 17th July last, from Yoker Lodge, aggravated by four previous convictions before local courts. The panel pleaded guilty, and received sentence of transportation for the period of 10 years
